9AM Coffee with a splash of milk 10 cals

Trader Joe’s Soy and Flax Clusters with Skim Milk 280 cals

12Pm SNACK Banana 105 cals

1:30PM Lunch–I think that this was the yummiest meal I have had all week–Trader Joe’s Mango, Quinoa, and Chicken Salad–OMG soooooo good, and the best part is that  its A LOT of food and its super low-cal  @240 cals with the dressing!

I also sort of cheated and got a Diet Cherry Pepsi when I was out running errands (buying this month’s mags with foodie pieces in them: Unte, Ms. and Harpers) 0 cals but still cheating

3:30 Snack–Wasa Light Rye Crispbread 30 cals

I started feeling tired/crabby/lightheaded around 4:30 so I had a Trader Joe’s Chicken and Cheese Tamale 130 cals.

Tonight we are joining neighborhood friends for a special Sukkot Shabat dinner, its a potluck and we are brining Kosher wine, not sure what else will be there and I wont really be able to know for sure how many calories are in the dishes, but I will estimate the dinner total anyway… I’m going to say, between the food, the wine, and the challah that it was 1500 calories alone.

Making today’s total 2, 295 a total and utter bust.


6 weeks @ 1200 Calories

Week 1, Day 2

I tried to make oatmeal this morning–a 1/4 cup serving of the Trader Joe’s Quick Cook Steal Cut Oats has 150 cals in it, so I whipped some up but when it was finished cooking it was like 1/8 of a cup of oats and I realized that oatmeal is nasty if you dont add sugar or something to it.  The oatmeal plan was a total FAILURE, so not wanting to “waste calories” I threw it out–which goes against my food morals, but you gotta do what you gotta do.  I went with the same breakfast as yesterday.

Soy and Flax Clusters with Skim Milk–280 cals

1:15PM–Lunch Trader Joe’s Mozzarella and Tomato Salad–the salad without dressing is 230 cals, the dressing adds another 220 cals!  I used about half of it, so I am going to say that this lunch was 340cals

So I am at 630 cals and its only 1:30. . .this is kind of scary for me, I only have 570 left and I am supposed to go out for dinner tonight!  Also, I am noticing that this diet makes me cold, both today and yesterday my hands and feet have been freezing and its 75 in the house so there is really no reason for it.  I’m wearing a sweater and slippers and I am thinking about putting on gloves!

Drinking lots of water this afternoon…and then suddenly I couldnt take it anymore–the bottle of Shasta Tiki Punch in the corner was staring me down all afternoon, I broke down and had about 2/3 of a glass of it. . .thats totally cheating. 100 cals boo.

5pm–Birthday Cake . . . uh, oh! I did that thing that I always made funny of skinny people for doing–I just ate a little bit of frosting and moved the cake around on the plate so it looked like I ate it.  It was grocery store bought cake anyway, and I dont usually like that kind of cake.  I’m going to call this 50 cals.

Dinner 8PM @ our neighborhood favorite Kosher place Milk N’ Honey, its a very yummy menu, but I have no idea how many calories are in the dishes. In any case, dinner makes the day a complete bust.  Birthday dinners are just that way I guess.  So I had some of the appetizer

Fungi Tartufato 6.95–sooo amazingly delicious, and since I was in a Fungi mood I got the Fungi calzone for my entree.  I ate half.  I’m going to guess that it was total 900 for the calzone, and that I had about 150 calories worth of the Fungi Tartufato.  Bringing my dinner to a grand total of 600 calories.
